Hyde, Winchester.
One of Winchester’s most desirable areas, Hyde is a stone’s throw away from Winchester City Centre. Here you will mostly find stunning terraced streets full of gorgeous homes. When houses come up for sale in Hyde, they don’t stick around for long.

King Alfred the Great
The area of Hyde in Winchester has become a place name synonymous with King Alfred the Great, whose bones were moved to Hyde Abbey in 1110. A statue of King Alfred stands tall at the end of the Broadway in central Winchester.
Hyde Abbey
Hyde Abbey was a medieval monastery, dating back to 1110, just outside the walls of Winchester. It was demolished in 1538 following acts passed under King Henry VIII to dissolve Monasteries and Abbeys.
The only remaining building today is the attractive 15th century gatehouse, Hyde Abbey Gate.
